When applying to U.S. universities, your Statement of Purpose (SOP) is your chance to speak directly to the admissions committee. It’s your opportunity to go beyond grades and test scores and show them who you are, what drives you, and why you’re the perfect fit for their program.

We believe you should always write your own SOP because it’s your story to tell. But we understand—it’s not always easy to know where to start. Many students ask their big brothers or sisters studying in the U.S. for help, hoping to borrow their SOPs. But often, they’re hesitant to share their work—and for good reason. Your journey is unique, and copying or pasting someone else’s SOP (or one from the internet) won’t truly represent who you are.
